The Christmas present which no one asked for or wanted :-)
Despite myself I really enjoyed making this years Christmas single and it was responsible for relighting a fire somewhere creatively and so we arrive at Another Trip Around the Sun.
Two of the tracks (Close Encounters and Why So Soon) date from last year and once I'd dug them out and remixed them I found that I did still like them but didn't want to just put them out and leave it there so I dug through the demo pile to see if anything caught my ear.
Two more tracks did (Aurora and Just Another Day) so I decided to work on those but before I did that I had been noodling on an acoustic in a different tuning, basically DADGAD but with the high D replaced by an F sharp. That noodling had been going on for a few months undeveloped until yesterday (22 December).
So yesterday I record what I'd been playing with and by a strange series of turns ended up at Dehli Belly, not much like what I'd been noodling but that's how it goes sometimes. The basic DNA is still the same.
All I had to do then was finish recording the missing bits for the other two, mix them and run them through the mastering assistant and there we go, one very long day later a new EP ready to go.
